Group size: The workshop runs with between 8 - 10 participants per session.

Ruth is leading 2 sessions;  Willow Bird Feeders 10.00am - 12.30pm and Willow Platter 1.30 - 4.00pm in the afternoon. If both are booked then a homecooked lunch will be provided and you are welcome to relax in the garden or take the opportunity to take a stroll along Hadrian's Wall from the door over the lunch break.

Join Ruth in learning how to make a traditional Catalan platter. These trays can be used for bread, cheese and fruit. A great way to display nibbles on the table for special occasions or the everyday. During this workshop your will learn how to handle the willow making rings and learn pairing and whipping. For this activity Ruth will bring rings already prepared but you will also get the opportunity to create your own ring in order to take this home to start a new platter.

Ruth is based at Mickley Northumberland, with extensive experience of working with communities and groups across the North East. She teaches basketry, willow art workshops, and heritage coppice crafts; and undertakes commissions for hurdles, sculptures, living willow structures, baskets, obelisks etc . As an experienced mentor she teaches trainees and volunteers.
